For Clients

Why is photography so important?

When it comes to your wedding, I feel photography is by far the most important investment for your day. When the ceremony is over and the cake has been eaten and the bouquet has been tossed, what you have left are the memories from your awesome day…. and the pictures. You want to know that your day is going to be captured in the way you want to remember it, by someone you feel comfortable with.

Photography has always been an important part of my life. As a child through college age, I frequently carried a disposable camera with me. To this day, I have bags and tons of albums of those images saved away and I love pulling them out to relive those years again.

As a photographer, my goal is to tell your story. I don’t just show up and click a button and then leave. I get involved with your story, I get to know you as a couple and I listen to how you want to relive YOUR memories in years to come.

Do you shoot engagement sessions?

Yes! Getting together to photograph your engagement pictures gives us a chance to get to know each other and creates a comfort level between us so you know what to expect from my personality on your wedding day.

Do you see our venue before the wedding?

If you are getting married locally, most likely yes. Many of my packages include a visit to your wedding site. Having a pre-event consultation at the venue gives me a chance to see the location, meet on-site coordinators to go over any rules or important information, and allows me to scope out all of the great places to make some photography magic.

Do you photograph same-sex couples and/or families?

Most definitely yes. HM Photography believes that love is love, and that all families should be treated equally. Several years ago, when Minnesota introduced an anti-equal-marriage amendment, I got involved with Minnesotans United for All Families and dedicated much of my time to being in the phone banks to call voters to have open and honest conversations about why the amendment was harmful, and spent election day on-campus encouraging students to vote. I also was present at the Minnesota Capital during the House and Senate voting week, as well as the exciting day when Governor Dayton signed marriage equality into law. I am a staunch activist for equal love and am extremely honored to photograph that love for all.

What do your wedding packages include?

I offer a variety of packages, all of which include a disc of images from your session. Depending on what package you select, some include an an engagement session, a wedding album, or other products.

Do you provide an assistant or a second photographer?

Some of my packages do! Check here for more information.

Do you offer coverage of smaller, short ceremonies?

Yes! I love offering quality services to those with smaller budgets and more intimate gatherings. Need only a couple of hours of coverage? I can do that! Please contact me directly for a quote.

Do you offer videography or photo booths?

While I do not offer these services through HM Photography, I am happy to recommend the best options for you for both videography and photo booth. Contact me to find out more.

I’m getting married someplace besides the Twin Cities metro. Do you travel?

Absolutely! I’ve traveled all over Wisconsin and Minnesota and even all the way to Tennessee, Florida and even Hawaii to photograph. You name it, I can get there. Schedule an appointment with me and we’ll discuss a travel package to fit your needs!

Do you offer albums?

Yes! I offer beautiful leather bound custom albums, designed by my associate.

How do I get pricing information?

General pricing can be found here. But I know that not everyone’s needs can fit into pre-determined packages, so I’m happy to sit down with potential clients and discuss what you expect out of your experience and how I can help make that happen for you by creating a custom package. Drop me an email!

What is the deposit for your sessions/weddings?

HM Photography requires a retainer (not a deposit) to book your session/event. I use the term “retainer” because upon cancellation of a session or event, monies received by HM Photography to hold the date for your session/event, are not returned the the client. Upon booking with HM Photography, we have reserved your date and time agreed upon, and did not reserve any other sessions or accept any other clients for said date and time. For this reason, in the event that you cancel your session or event, or cancel the contract for any reason, all monies paid shall be retained by HM Photography in order to offset its loss of business. That said – if you need to reschedule your session or event, I am happy to work with you to try to rebook your date, with no extra retainer required.

Retainers for smaller sessions are 50% of total investment, due at the time of contract signing. Retainers for larger events and weddings are $1,000, due at the time of contract signing.

I’m a current client. Can I pay my retainer or balance here on the website?

Sure thing! Follow this link and it will direct you to my PayPal where you can submit payments.

When will I see my images?

Currently, contracts for larger events and weddings list 6-8 weeks as the timeline for receiving images. Smaller sessions are listed at 4-6 weeks. I strive to finish ahead of those timelines, but my personal and family life, as well as my schedule with other sessions, will factor into that. I always have sneak peek images up on my Facebook page within a few days (often SAME DAY).

What if I have a question not listed here?

I’m just a click away! Send me an email, it’ll make my day!
